It comes as little surprise that the Dove Tale Rum from John Drew Brands has won numerous awards, including the #1 Gold Dark Rum in Cigar & Spirits World Spirits Competition in 2017. This is some dang good rum. It’s 100% Florida rum, made from Florida sugarcane black strap molasses. It is then aged and matured in bourbon barrels. The result is a smooth, delicious rum that carries notes of caramel, nougat, and vanilla.

Here’s what we made:
Dove Tale Daiquiri
2 ounces Dove Tale Rum
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce simple syrup
Add all the ingredients to a shaker and fill with ice. Shake and strain into a chilled Coupe or Martini glass. Garnish with a lime wheel.
Joya de Nicaragua Cinco Decades. This cigar, that pays tribute to Joya’s 50th anniversary, is one of the best we tried at this year’s IPCPR. It is limited to 5,000 boxes for 2018 and is a perfect pair for this special rum.
