This toasted oak, barrel-aged rye whiskey from John Drew is positively smooth and mellow. It is distilled in Alberta, Canada and then aged for 4 years. The taste is spicy with balanced flavors of caramel, oak, vanilla, and black pepper. It’s an excellent whiskey so we’re making a Manhattan (arguably one of the easiest cocktails to make) and pairing it with an Undercrown Shade.
JOHN DREW RYE MANHATTAN
2 ounces John Drew Rye
1 ounce Dry Vermouth
Angostura Bitters
INSTRUCTIONS
Add all the ingredients to a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir well and strain into a chilled Coupe or Martini glass. Garnish with a cherry.
Cigar Pairing
Undercrown Shade. This cigar perfectly compliments the cocktail with its mild body and smooth and creamy flavors.
