Admit it—even the most fashionable person needs help occasionally. We asked our friends, Jenna and Steph, both professional models, to give us some advice on men’s fashion so next time you hit the nightlife you’ll hopefully make better decisions.

Jenna

Fashion advice: Model Jenna posingButton-up shirts—tucked or untucked? I prefer tucked if you’re wearing a suit coat. However, age has a lot to do with it, too. Please, if you’re not a silver-haired businessman, then wear your shirt untucked. You don’t need to look like you have mortgages, 401(k)s, and real-world problems when you’re still in your prime.

Your thoughts on skinny jeans … go! Skinny jeans are a no for me. I automatically think of teenagers who frequent Hot Topic. Guys shouldn’t be wearing something that hugs them that tight. I mean, don’t they want kids?

Is there ever a good reason to wear a bow tie? Absolutely! Bow ties can be a more relaxed and casual look with a nice blazer and a button-up. I love them!

How about a fedora? If you’re on an island, at a swim-up bar, or wearing a flowered Hawaiian shirt, then sure!

Do you notice a difference when a guy wears $250 jeans as opposed to a $10 pair from a thrift store? I’m a big believer in bargain hunting, so long as they aren’t six sizes too small, then I don’t care where you bought them.

A guy is wearing a suit coat in a bar. What do you think? Way to go! What a classy guy! Thumbs up from me. Unless you look like The Situation from Jersey Shore; then you would get thumbs down.

Two guys offer to buy you a drink. One is wearing cargo shorts and a T-shirt; the other is wearing a nice, fitted button-up and expensive slacks. Do you accept either? Being a married woman, I wouldn’t accept either. However, back in the day I would’ve gone with the guy who acted like a gentleman and did so with a smile. Who cares what you are wearing—just no cheesy pickup lines.

A guy is smoking a cigar outside a bar. What goes through your mind? I enjoy the smell of cigars, so I would ask to smell it, which would most likely result in him being creeped out.

Button-up shirts—tucked or untucked? It depends. If it’s before 5 p.m., then tucked; if it’s after, then untucked is the way to go.

Your thoughts on skinny jeans … go! I don’t like skinny jeans on men. I prefer a relaxed straight leg in place of super-skinny pants, but I think that makes me old-school.

Is there ever a good reason to wear a bow tie? Yes! Bow ties are awesome! Anytime, really.

How about a fedora? Fedoras are just really cool to me. Anyone wearing one instantly gets three times cooler.

Do you notice a difference when a guy wears $250 jeans as opposed to a $10 pair from a thrift store? When it comes to jeans it’s important for them to fit great; however, in my experience, paying a ton of money doesn’t always equate to a great fit, so I would say no. I don’t notice if a guy has a really expensive pair of jeans.

A guy is wearing a suit coat in a bar. What do you think? Quick! Someone push me into him so I can start up a conversation!

Two guys offer to buy you a drink. One is wearing cargo shorts and a T-shirt; the other is wearing a nice, fitted button-up and expensive slacks. Do you accept either? Well the guy with the cargo pants already started off down five points, but I’m all about personality and confidence. Whomever I feel the best organic connection with would be the one I’d accept a yummy cosmo with a twist from.

A guy is smoking a cigar outside a bar. What goes through your mind? I prefer hookah, so I might ask for the nearest lounge.
