Davidoff’s upcoming limited edition release, the Davidoff Dominicana, is a cigar new line that’s said to be just as vibrant and exhilarant as the Dominican Republic itself. The cigar is blended with vintage tobaccos exclusively and gives cigar enthusiasts a full-bodied smoking experience paired with Davidoff’s signature sophistication.
In a press release, Oettinger Davidoff AG’s chief marketing officer Edward Simon commented: “The Davidoff brand is globally revered for cigars of sophistication and superior quality. To embrace our heritage we created the Dominicana line that reflects the vitality and colorful culture of the Dominican Republic. To achieve this task, our Master Blenders combined five Dominican tobaccos with an Ecuadorian binder and awarded the creation with a Dominican wrapper to compose the Davidoff Dominicana. We are pleased to have succeeded in developing a cigar that unites complex and manifold flavors with the smooth classiness of the White Band Collection and which captures the Dominican joy de vivre.”
He continued, “The Davidoff Dominicana is not only a spirited example of Davidoff’s expertise and excellence in craftsmanship, but is also a statement to our enormous assortment of vintage tobacco stocks. The tobaccos harvested in 2014 have been carefully aged over six years to be eventually blended into the Davidoff Dominicana, making it a bold testimony of our vintage proposition. The Davidoff Dominicana emphasizes Davidoff’s core difference that aficionados worldwide value highly with our brand and company and our tireless efforts to delight our customers with unique propositions.”
To create the full-bodied blend for the Davidoff Dominicana, the company’s master blenders tapped into Davidoff’s vault of rare and aged tobaccos to create a blend comprised of tobaccos that have been aged up to six years and delivers a complex yet pleasant taste experience. The first third of the Davidoff Dominicana opens with notes of fresh spices imparted by Yamasá Visus filler tobacco that is complemented with hints of black pepper and oak wood. The second third of the cigar features a deep creaminess due to the cigar’s Ecuadorian binder that’s supported by subtle notes of leather and dark chocolate. The final third of the cigar ends with flavors of dried fruits that mingle with oak wood and fresh spices. The extended aging of the tobaccos, which were harvested in 2014, allow for this cigar to be full-bodied while also being balanced.
Because the cigar’s blend features vintage tobaccos, the Davidoff Dominicana will be limited and available as long as supplies of the tobaccos lasts. To further develop the cigar’s flavors, the Davidoff Dominicana were rolled over 12 months ago and the extended resting period attributed to the cigar’s flavor. The Davidoff Dominicana is presented in three sizes: Toro (6 x 54), Robusto (5 x 52), and Short Robusto (4 x 50). Davidoff Dominicana will begin appearing in select Davidoff Appointed Merchants and Flagship Stores beginning in May 2021.
