The Camacho American Barrel-Aged Road Tour kicked off on June 8 in Orlando, Fla., with a week-long event at Corona Cigar. This event is limited to only 25 hand-selected retailers in the U.S. Each launch event during the tour will span across three days. The grand finale event will take place on Dec. 19 at Tampa Humidor in Tampa, Fla. Learn more about the tour and what to expect in our interview with George Rami, Camacho’s national brand ambassador.

C&L: Why should people come out to one of the American Barrel-Aged Tour dates?
George Rami: It is a rarity in the cigar industry to have events as entertaining and engaging as the American-Barrel-Aged Tour. We partnered up with some very successful stores across the country to deliver a very cool three-day, on-site, national tour. Not surprisingly, we sometimes have people that drive a few hours to come and hang out with us. Once, someone told me, “This is what cigar events want be when they group up.”

What can consumers expect from one of these events?
This year we have some carnival-like challenges, which have been very successful in engaging customers. First, they warm up with some cornhole, which we have had local ex-frat guys that have come in [and] cleaned house while racking up tickets for the raffles.

The main goal for these guys, and sometimes girls, is to win the giant Yoder Smoker grill. Second, customers get engaged on a very intense oversized Jenga game that sometimes runs for about an hour at a time. We also have a carnival high striker to release some stress, and it can actually be modified so that even kids can take a swing at it. Last, but not least, we have a mixology contest where customers become bartenders for three minutes [while] they prepare old-fashioned cocktails. The best one wins raffle tickets.

What’s been the best tour date so far?
Our kickoff at Corona Cigar Co. in Orlando was off the chain. Every tour stop is really fun and has an enchantment of its own. The food is great, the cigars are good, and the atmosphere is awesome and welcoming.

What would you say female a cigar enthusiast would get out of attending one of these events?
We do have a lot of attendees that are females, and believe me, they have just as much fun as the guys, if not more. Everyone is welcomed. We always steer attendees in the right direction when they ask for cigar recommendations. Overall, anyone attending can expect to have a really good time.
