After delays caused by COVID-19, Alec Bradley Cigar Co. has announced that it has finally begun shipping the limited edition Black Market Estelí Diamond cigars. Originally scheduled for a June 2020 release, Black Market Estelí Diamond is a follow-up to the popular and critically acclaimed Nica Puro Diamond Rough-Cut, which was first introduced in 2014.
Black Market Estelí Diamond will be replacing the Nica Puro Diamond Rough-Cut. The proprietary diamond shape pays homage to Trilogy, a triangular shaped cigar created by Alec Bradley’s founder, Alan Rubin. Due to the unique shape, the Black Market Estelí Diamond requires more time in the manufacturing process. The base of Black Market Estelí Diamond’s blend is rolled with an extra filler leaf of Ligero Habano from Nicaragua and is then carefully pressed to its diamond shape before it undergoes aging.
“We’re delighted to finally ship the Black Market Estelí Diamonds,” says Jonathan Lipson, Alec Bradley’s director of sales and marketing. “Although inadvertent, the extra time in the aging room allowed the tobaccos to marry even longer, bringing out even richer flavor notes. Not only is this a limited edition, this is now an extra special release!”
Only 1,500 boxes of Black Market Estelí Diamond have been produced for a worldwide release. The medium to full-bodied Black Market Estelí Diamond features a dark natural wrapper from Nicaragua, a double binder combination of Honduran and Nicaraguan leaves and filler tobaccos from Nicaragua. Black Market Estelí Diamond are packaged in 16-count diamond-shaped boxes and will retail in the U.S. for $9.85 per cigar before any applicable taxes. Black Market Estelí Diamond is handcrafted at Plasencia Cigars Nicaragua.
